“Working as a support worker with Paterson Health & Social Care is the perfect job for a nursing student. Not only do they offer amazing pay compared to other agencies, but they also train you to carry out nursing skills such as PEG feeding, oral suctioning, seizure management and NIV care. These are skills that I didn't get as much hands on experience with on my Uni placements, so if it wasn’t for PHC I still wouldn't be confident with them!
All of PHC’s clients have amazing care packages, so you get the luxury of having plenty of time to give outstanding care to each individual. I find this really satisfying, as sadly this isn't the case in most of the care sector. As a PHC support worker, I take my clients on day trips to places like Stonehenge, RAF air shows, shopping trips, do art at home with them, play Xbox with them, go out for meals, go swimming, and genuinely have a lot of fun! Support workers get to work with the same clients regularly and PHC works hard to match you with the clients you get on best with.
The lovely, friendly office team at PHC are so understanding of my commitment to my Nursing degree and support me in working flexibly around my studies. I never feel like PHC were competing for my time because they worked so hard to fit my shifts around my busy Uni schedule. I am so grateful to PHC for giving me a part time job which is fun, well paid, flexible, and taught me so much!
