Job description

We are currently recruiting for our client, Prison Custody Officers, to work in their secure setting in Bridgend, South Wales.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to use previous skills and make a difference to people’s lives.  It can be challenging but will be extremely rewarding.  You’ll be facing fresh challenges every day ranging from care and support to control and security issues.

 

As a Prison Custody Officer, you will pay a crucial part in caring for a wide rang of people including children 15 years old, older teenagers and adults.  You’ll be working full time, various shifts including early, late and day shifts following a 10 week rota pattern.  If successful,  you will undertake an extensive 8-9 week training program, enabling you to gain and learn the skills needed to be a successful Prison Custody Officer.

 

As a PCO, You’ll be helping assist with resettlement opportunities, by properly preparing prisoners for their release from custody.  In addition to your custodial duties, you’ll build and maintain dynamic security relationships with prisoners.

 

Although there is no formal qualifications for this role, you will need basic literacy and numeracy skills and have a NVQ3 Custodial care assessor Award, or be willing to achieve this.

You will need to have good communication skills, be resilient and have flexibility.  You’ll be able to cope in a pressured and disciplined environment and be a strong team player.  You will have the ability to remain calm and deal with all kinds of people in a non-judgemental, mature manner and have a professional disposition and integrity.
