The NMC are developing a process for all nurses and midwives to demonstrate that they practice safely and effectively throughout their career. This is called Revalidation. Revalidation will commence from April 2016, but nurses need to start preparing now! A number of requirements will need to be met. If you would like to know more about these requirements, please look at the NMC website.
How Paterson Health & Social Care will be supporting the nurses registered with us:
Practice Hours & CPD
We will endeavour to offer you enough work to achieve your 450 practice hours quota. We can provide templates for you to log your practice & CPD hours. To assist your CPD requirements, we have subscribed to an online training site called Social Care TV. Courses can be accessed at the cost of £10 each. We will also be identifying more courses relevant to your practice.
We obtain progress reports from our clients regarding your practice on a six monthly basis. We will be able to provide you with practice-related feedback from these reports.
Reflection & Discussion
A Paterson Health & Social Care nurse will be available at your yearly face-to-face appraisal for you to discuss your written reflections.
Third Party Confirmation
If we are your main provider of work, please inform us if you would like us to be your ‘confirmer’. At your face-to-face appraisals we will then work with you to ensure you are on target to complete the revalidation requirements.
You will need to provide a health and character declaration as well as confirming you have professional indemnity insurance when your NMC registration expires.
